I am fascinated by everything that lights up, like a moth that is magically attracted by light. What would a painting look like if it could glow, if the colours changed depending on your mood. Varinia creates paintings that she partially illuminates from behind with LEDs and changeable coloured light. Through years of experience as a theatre painter at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and Lucerne City Theatre, she has learned to work with various materials. In her free time, she developed her own unique invention. With this technique the artist has opened up a unique artistic universe, she has given her paintings a coloured, luminous and lively aura. Thanks to her newly gained independence, she can give her creativity free rein. When she states that her art means ‘challenge, passion and fulfilment’, it also means bringing her own personality into her work – a piece of herself is emblazoned on every canvas. Painting is a language and language is communication. Varinia Oberholzer is an artist who lives out her passion with a maximum of empathy. Every single work of art is a personal statement.
